I Am Finally Ready to Own Up!

Yes, I am ready to admit it to the world......I am a geek! 

I was one growning up, and am still one to this day.  I was lucky that I had an "Ugly Duckling Grown Up" time in high school, otherwise I'd probably still be a geek AND a virgin to boot (but, I'm not into talking much about that).  Today, for the first time in my life, I shared a part of my past with my wife, about how when I was young, I was part of the inagural class at a technology based magnet school in my district.  It was cool, at the time, (OK, it was cool for me, but not for many else in the middle school crowd), and I came away knowing how to Word Process, as opposed to just type.

Today, on the other hand......I got verification that I am STILL a big geek!  For Christmas this year, being the first one following a big relocation away from family and friends (see previous posts), most of our gifts this year were "cards of the gifting kind", as we are in an apartment for now (still have a lovely 2-story w/ basement, 4 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath home on 1/2 acre if anyone is interested in MN!) and there is just not a lot of extra room for toys and stuff.  Well, a large chunk of these cards were from a store familiar to many of you from my home town......they are mostly blue, have a lot of yellow tags around, sell a lot of things that plug into the wall, etc.  So, we decided that after the holidays, we would buy a Wii for the family.  Something for all of us to do once the weather gets back up into the 110's (oh, again for you "back home", it's in the 70's this weekend- hahahahahahaha!) and we are trapped in out little "rat cage".  After weeks and weeks of getting laughed at (yes, laughed at, litterly) for asking if the stupid little boxes with the blue lights were in.....I FINALLY GOT ONE.....and still being the big geek that I am, I'm on my way home to plug it in.
