The Boy (pat. pend.) is playing hockey for the first time this season. He's 6, and so far, its been cold.....warm.......now nearing on warmer. This is the second time we've had fairly early ice time. 7:30 was a couple weeks ago. 8:00 is OK, but still throws me off a bit. I know, I know, it only gets worse as they get older: earlier mornings, traveling leagues, more expensive skates, etc. But for now, its fun to see him out there, all geared up, sliding around on the ice as best as he can. I come from a LONG line of hockey players. Got one in there whos even in the Hall of Fame. I was on skates before I could walk. I never had the full on interest and dedication to be anything more than an adverage player. But, nowadays, I have a lot of fun getting out there on the ice again. Teaching The Boy everything I know, and hoping to instill some sense of fun and rule of the game into him. Its early now (short term, and long), so we'll see how it goes.
